In celebration of my upcoming fabric line with Riley Blake Designs, I’ve designed a new quilt pattern to correspond with the Swan Serenade theme of the fabric. The fabric line was absolutely inspired by the Swan Lake ballet and the beautiful music by Tchaikovsky. I have always loved listening to classical music, and the Swan Lake score is nothing short of exceptional.

I’ll delve more into the actual fabric line in another post soon, but for now, we will turn our attention to the main quilt feature: the Odette quilt pattern.

And, to go with the theme of this quilt, let me share the photo (again, you may have seen it on the blog before) I took that inspired me to research and listen to Swan Lake as I designed my fabric collection:

This is a lovely lake by Pierrefonds castle, about an hour and a half out of Paris. The last time we were there the swan boats weren’t out anymore, though, sadly enough! But these right and left facing swans make an appearance in the quilt, surrounded by flowers.

The Odette Quilt is an intermediate quilt pattern, and comes in a large throw size- although, if you wanted to just make one of the individual blocks, you could do that for a fun mini quilt or two. I used mostly fabric from the Swan Serenade line, but I did use some Confetti Cottons in Butterscotch, Black, and a beautiful Cadet color for the background. I absolutely love this color!

We actually brought the quilt top to the Parc de Versailles to take pictures by the lake… but then it started raining! We took shelter against the stone walls and wooden garden structures to avoid getting wet.

The quilt is currently “across the pond” since I sent it stateside to get quilted with a playful, splashy feather design. My part in its production is done; time for others to use their skills to bring this quilt to life.

This quilt brings out all the heart eyes! I love it.

Don’t forget to head to the Etsy shop to pick up your own copy of the pattern, on sale through the 6th of April!

Happy Quilting!
