The gnomes are back!

This is a Christmas spin on the ever-popular You Gnome I Love You quilt pattern, and I’m so thrilled to share it with you. Of course, I had to call it You Gnome I Love Christmas!

The pattern cover shows the quilt mocked up in Holiday Cheer by My Mind’s Eye for Riley Blake Designs, coming May 2023.

I’ve got 5 new blocks and a North Pole twist on the Gnome blocks in this new pattern! There’s a present,

Christmas bells,

wreaths,

candy canes,

and the traditional Christmas tree, along with Elf (and Santa!) style gnomes.

I think it’s so fun how Santa Gnome is surrounded by his Elf gnome buddies on this quilt!

This pattern is geared toward the intermediate quilter because of the small pieces in the blocks, but they are definitely worth it.

This pattern includes cutting instructions for the full quilt, but the block construction pages have the required cuts too so if you wanted to make a wall hanging, table runner, or kitchen hot pads with the pattern it is easy to do- no need to separate out all the cuts to figure out the project you have in mind.

After I wrote up the pattern, I set out to get fabric to make my own quilt. The problem is… Paris isn’t exactly a hub for holiday cotton fabric. In fact, not much cotton quilting fabric exists around here, and online shops also carry a very limited amount. I had to go to 3 different locations to get the fabric I used here! And I still didn’t have enough- my sample quilt is smaller simply because I ran out of fabrics that coordinated :). My quilt is definitely more traditional than I normal go for, but I am still really happy with it and so glad we have a Christmas quilt now!

My little pink gnome noses get a bit lost because they are light pink, but it’s like I tell my kids… “you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit!”

So, I know it’s not really good to pick favorites buuuuut… this is probably my favorite Christmas quilt we have! I actually think we have… one other Christmas quilt (that I do adore) so maybe I just need to sew more holiday quilts, ha ha!

The quilt is already right at home on the couch! I think I want to wash it a few times to soften it up a bit, since the fabric I did find wasn’t the absolute best quality and we know that washed quilts are the cuddliest.

The quilt pattern is available in my shop if you’d like to sew something up for Christmas! Click the link to go to the shop.

You Gnome I Love Christmas Quilt Pattern

I absolutely lucked out finding this adorable Christmas gnome fabric for the backing! It is manufactured exclusively for the fabric chain store out here, Mondial Tissus, and it has gray and greens that decidedly do not match my quilt top but that was fine by me- it is all about the theme here, folks! When I told the salesperson cutting that I was using it for a quilt, she asked me what that was… so I just said blanket. I know quilters worldwide are cringing right now, but it works in translation for us here 🙂

For fun, I’ve mocked up the quilt pattern in another fabric line, Christmas Village by Katherine Lenius for Riley Blake Designs.

Happy holiday quilting!!
