Hi everyone! Today is the beginning of virtual quilt market over at Riley Blake Designs on Facebook, and you’ll get a sneak peek at Primrose Hill, my newest line coming this August.

Primrose Hill was born out of a desire for me to express my gratitude for the lovely world we live in! In 2020, all the local businesses, schools, and churches temporarily closed their doors for a time, and so if we wanted to do something besides look at our four walls, we went outside. We ended up spending lots of time outdoors, even as summer came and temperatures soared!

I ended up inviting my kids to take photos and fill their pockets with samples (and in the desert, you have to be picky about what goes on your camera and what goes in your pocket 😉 ) to bring home and make beautiful things with.

I began drawing and doing some research on flowers (didn’t everyone look into gardening last year?), which led me to learning about a few interesting women- one of which was Agnes Arber, a botanist and the first woman inducted in the Royal Society in England. Her birthplace was a place called Primrose Hill, and you bet I fell in love with that name and attached it to my new fabric line!

Although I don’t have any actual fabric yet, I’ve been playing with mockups using the line and its made me more excited than ever to work with it! It features lovely florals, a playful damask, and even a print that features actual correspondence between two botanists from the early 1900’s as the background.

I’m really loving the muted tones in this line, the contrast is more subtle and calming and it’s as feminine as can be. The olive greens might be my favorite new color- this is the first time a green colorway has been in my designs and the colors are divine!

I was able to use some test swatches to create a little video- stop motion is definitely not in my future but it was fun nonetheless! I hope you check out the line, and love it as much as I do!

Happy Quilting!
