Every Christmas, a few of my friends get together and we do a handmade ornament exchange. This year might be a little different, but the ornaments are still handmade!

I posted my Little Town ornaments on my blog a few years ago, and that printable is still available! This year, I wanted to do something sewing related so I thought maybe hand sewing was the way to go! I’d seen some adorable handmade felt ornaments online, and after some Etsy perusing I found a cute Gnome pattern by Little Things To Share and got to work!

The felt is a wool blend from Benzie Designs on Etsy. I used matching DMC thread, and some sparkly embellishments from the craft store, as well as the red and white baker’s twine. The pattern doesn’t include instructions for the hat decorations (just leaf templates) so I used the pattern samples as a starting point and used other online inspiration as well.

The pattern by Little Things To Share has a more handmade looking pom pom on the top which I LOVED, but I had to make 10 of these little cuties in on much time so I went for the pre-made poof balls from the craft store. Sometimes, the easy route is still an acceptable way to go!

I’m SO pleased with how these turned out! They took many hours but the end result is so darling, all those hours were worth it. I mean, look at those little noses!

I can definitely say I got faster as I went along, and maybe my stitching skills improved? Ha! These little ornaments are only 4″ tall, so the stitches are smaller than what I’m used to!

I can’t wait to get these out to my friends! I hope they like them, and can enjoy them on their trees! My husband and kids requested we have some for our own tree, so I have just a few more to make 😉

I have other handmade ornaments and Christmas projects saved on my Pinterest board, Christmas Sewing!
