I promised another version of the Take Me Home quilt pattern, and here she is!

The baby size does not disappoint- it came together in just a few short hours, and took one sit-down quilting session. I even managed to squeeze the top onto a width of fabric, so I only used half of the required backing. Good pattern writing skills necessitate that I don’t actually include that on the pattern (I always include backing amounts for professional longarm quilting!) but I thought I’d share that trick with you here anyway!

The fabric used here is Playground by Dylan M. for Windham Fabrics, I had an assortment of (adorable!) Fat Quarters, and realized it was just the right amount for this baby size Take Me Home quilt! The backing is a New Dawn low volume print by Citrus and Mint Designs, and binding is Blossom in Apricot Blush- both for Riley Blake Designs.

When sewing up the flying geese on both versions of this quilt, I made sure to pay attention to my fabric direction. Directional fabric frustrates me- I like to just SEW and not have to worry about things- but it was worth it in these big blocks, and to have all the flying geese fabrics facing the right way was just perfect.

Each set of flying geese was split into two stacks in order to keep them all facing the right direction in the end- North facing, and South facing flying geese. Then I sewed the sky pieces accordingly, and continued from there. I usually don’t bother with direction on my block-based quilts, in case you wondered! I figure the quilt will be in use and thrown haphazardly across sofas and beds, we might as well make it cute from all angles 😉
