When I first designed this Mademoiselle pattern, I had recently watched a whole slew of Austen-era period films and was totally inspired by the estate gardens where everyone takes their afternoon stroll. 🙂 It reminded me of my trip to France, and the expanses of maze-like hedges that lead to beautiful fountains, flower gardens, and brilliant statues.

Then, I saw Kelly Panacci’s new line, Hedge Rose, for Riley Blake Designs. It’s like our minds were meeting for the same purpose! Hedge Rose, to make hedge rows! I couldn’t deny the perfect pairing and the quilt was born.

This is a confident beginner-level quilt pattern (and it comes in three sizes!), so don’t let those X’s deceive you! The piecing is simple and I include some tips to help you along. The pieces are large, so it is the perfect opportunity to use some favorite prints!

I did some wavy-line quilting on my Mademoiselle Quilt, and backed it in Blossom in navy, a perfect compliment to Kelly’s line.

I just love this quilt, and everyone who’s been over to my house just gushes over it! It’s a perfect statement quilt to add to a room.

The pattern is in the shop! Happy Quilting.
