I’m so excited to introduce Arboreta, my newest quilt pattern!

Arboreta is a yardage quilt pattern- the repeating block leans toward the traditional side which is perfect for the beautiful Notting Hill fabric by Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter for Riley Blake designs. I backed it in a Tutu-colored Shabby print for Riley Blake, it really matches the pink in Notting Hill really well! I shipped this to the lovely ladies at Two Crazy Stitches for some Marmalade quilting- it is so lovely, all those swoops and swirls amid the diamond points of the quilt!

The center block was perfect for some fussy cutting of these beautiful roses in the main print. I used a directional print to surround it, so the pattern includes cutting instructions for both directional and non-directional prints here.

When I first designed this pattern, I imagined beautiful collections of trees laid out in symmetry and paved pathways to walk in between. Since the block repeats, I chose to name it Arboreta to describe my botanical imaginings. I designed this pattern to go with my fabric collection releasing this fall which has many botanical inspirations- it all just worked together so well!

One of the challenges I had with this design was the sashing- these on-point squares are so neat as they gather around the main block, I wanted to make sure they weren’t a pain to sew. The answer was to use a simplified seminole piecing method- if you haven’t done it before, I promise it is easy as can be.

I hope you love this pattern as much as I do! It was a delight to make- much easier than it looks, and so satisfying. I have the pattern listed in my shop now! And, like usual, it’s on sale for its first week for 20% off.
