It is week 7 of the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge, and this week it is my turn to share a block with all of you!

This block is called “Reach For The Stars“, so named because the ever classic sawtooth star block has been encircled, and the corners seem to be reaching toward the center. When I design my quilt patterns, often times I start with a star block- I reach for the stars! The designs may evolve from there, but it is a great inspirational point for me.

You can find the pattern for this block on the Riley Blake Designs website, HERE, as well as the other six previous blocks.

For my Block Challenge quilt, I’m using my Pure Delight line for Riley Blake Designs. I went completely non-conventional for the background fabric and used my grid print in blue. I’ve never used a colored background before and it is actually really fun! I have to think about things a little backward to get the fabric placed right while sewing… I’ve sewn plenty of things wrong, light fabrics are so engrained as background that it is a hard habit to break!

I have been keeping up with the challenge really well, but blogging about the blocks has been even more of a challenge!

Information about the challenge can be found HERE, as well as fabric requirements.

Are you sewing along? What types of blocks are your favorite so far?
