Every once in a while I get the opportunity to test a quilt pattern, like this Safflower Quilt by Lemon Squeezy Home! The pattern has been released for a while now, but it took me some time to just piece some backing and quilt it. I have a stack of quilt tops I need to turn into useable quilts, and this one was the first one to get my attention.

I used all Cloud 9 fabrics for this quilt top (and binding- backing, however, is RBD), and their solids are so nice. They do fray more than my other solids, so I had to handle the top with more care, but I love the overall feel of the finished product. The solids with the hint of floral worked great for this modern quilt, but keeping it feminine and gentle at the same time.

The assembly of this quilt was really quite clever, since the four quadrants mirror each other. The design is beautiful, and the actual pattern was beautifully done too. As Christie’s first quilt pattern, it was really amazing!

Sometimes I just need a simple but striking quilt to work on. This is definitely that! Half-square triangles and snowball piecing is all it took to create this. And, it is a perfect play-size quilt, finishing at 56.5″ x 56.5″.

It feels sooooo good to check a quilt off of the UFO list. And it feels even better when that project is as lovely as this one!!!
