Even though my Arizona town is still hot… as in, high 90’s hot… we have fall on the mind. My home doesn’t have a lot of places for decorations to sit, but I do have a dinner table so I decided to make a Fall Table Runner!

Because Fall here isn’t all falling leaves and apple harvest, I decided to go with a Blue theme for my runner. It definitely matches my family room better too! I used the fabric line Tranquility by Gerri Robinson for Riley Blake Designs for the large pumpkins and backing, and I don’t think I could have made a better decision, ever! It is beautiful. The small pumpkins, background, and gingham stripes are all texture and shade basics by Riley Blake Designs.

There are a LOT of really great pumpkin-themed fall runners and patterns out there, but I just went with simple pumpkins and a fun, “gingham” border.

I also chose to quilt it with straight lines so the pumpkins could have a hint of those pumpkin lines we all know!

As I was deciding on how to put this together, the thought occurred to me that this border can be used for any blocks lined up in the center- I can use the same design but swap the pumpkins with Christmas trees or presents, or even hearts for Valentine’s Day!

The fabric choices for the borders make the cute gingham look- I shopped online so my fabric colors aren’t exactly perfect but it still gives the effect! My light blue border should have been a bit darker to create the correct opacity as the stripes intersected.

This table runner came together really fast- the construction uses strip piecing so it really helps speed up the process. And, speaking of construction processes- I wrote down the instructions as I sewed this up so I can share the pattern with you too!

**After many emails asking for help with downloading, I’ll just put the help here! If you are on a MOBILE DEVICE, the file will not download. Make sure you are on a computer! Also, yes, the link takes you to the shop but the pattern is still FREE! It is just easier with my web host to have all my pattern downloads in one spot. 🙂 **
