donut-pot-holder

I love donuts. I love carbs, and sugar, so of course I love donuts. And when I can’t eat one, I’ll definitely take the opportunity to sew one!

donut-pot-holders

This is a FREE (!!!) pattern on Craftsy from Lindsey Neill (@penandpaperpatterns on IG if you want beautiful sewing inspiration). I wanted to make one of these since the day she posted her first donut, and so I made 2 😉 I chose a Cotton + Steel print that had the “sprinkle” look already so I didn’t have to do it by hand. I’m a cheater. Cheater, Cheater, Donut Eater.

The pattern has really great instructions, including some photos for the steps. You need to know how to do applique (which, if you look at my donut centers, I definitely need to work on that), and make/use bias binding. There are instructions for doing both, but it helps if you know how already!

Something I’ve found with home made pot holders is that the Insul-Brite isn’t the best on its own. I usually either double the Insul-brite or I add a layer of batting. I did that with these, and then I decided that since they were so CUTE there was no way I was going to let them be used 🙂 so they are hanging adorably in my sewing room instead. I don’t know if making a non-cute set is even possible, but I think I’ll try again so I can use those ha ha!

So there you go! And I know you want to make these now, especially with the holidays coming up! Wouldn’t these make the best gift to your favorite baker? Thought so.
